5 Summer Self-Care Practices
With June comes the shift into Summer, a reminder to keep showing up for yourself and to slow down enough to soak in some well-deserved self-care.
Here are five self-care practices to help you prioritize self-care all season long as you continue to become your best and healthiest self!
1. Get Sunlight First Thing in the Morning
Sunshine is a natural energy source. Morning light helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle, supports your mood, and encourages movement. Just 5–10 minutes outdoors shortly after waking can shift your entire day.
Are YOU one to take it slowwww in the mornings? Grab your daily read & sit outside on porch/patio, Protein coffee in hand of course!
Bonus: Take your morning jog or walk outside; habit stack!
2. Move Daily
Movement fuels momentum. You don’t need a high-intensity workout every day; simply commit to being active in a way that feels good. Exercise is one thing, STEPS/ Movement is another.. Walking, jogging, stretching, or dancing in your kitchen. It ALL counts
Daily motion = daily devotion to your health FACT!
For the month of JUNE step, it up a notch & join us in JOGGING JUNE! We are weeks away from our 5 year/5K anniversary BBQ walk/run.
3. Hydrate Like It’s Hot (Because It Is)
Water is your summer superpower! Water winning doesn’t seem like an issue for many when it’s hot out, the issue is overconsuming water and not balancing out electrolytes accordingly. As temperatures rise and sweat rates increase, your hydration needs go up too. Aim for at least 80–100 oz daily and consider adding electrolytes if you're jogging or outside often or in general slack on water winning.

4. Unplug with Purpose
Let summer be your reminder to slow down. Step away from the screens and step into your real life. Whether it’s phone-free jogs (if you never tried, do so you can really focus on running technique, breathwork and just more in nature if choose to take it outdoors), device-free dinners, or silent sunsets. PROTECT YOUR PEACE! One thing I often remind myself: it’s ok to just BE. B-E.
Presence is one of the purest forms of self-care. Practice being more present this season. One of our core values; Living Intentionally.
One of my newest quotes: “Life is a gift, that’s why we call it the present” hehe
5. Soak in the Small Wins
Self-care isn’t always a spa day (I mean don’t get me wrong, those times are fabulous) but sometimes, it’s showing up when it’s hard. CHOOSE THE HARD but than to reflect on those small wins… drinking water before coffee, taking a walk instead of scrolling, or journaling before bed… meal prepping BREAK-FAST, not waiting to prep ALL meals of the day.. unrealistic and simply nut sustainable.
Pause each night to reflect. Write down one thing you did well (can always share inside your Healthy Route Community).
2025 Summer Simplified:
Small steps. Small wins. More sunlight. More presence.
You don’t need a new you, just more of YOU!
